John Shaban

Experienced Attorney and Public Servant - John Shaban

John Shaban is a 30-year practicing lawyer and has worked in law firms large and small. John's practice has included all facets of complex commercial law and litigation, intellectual property protection, antitrust and unfair competition disputes, corporate governance, environmental law, employment and labor issues, strategic planning and government relations. He has managed teams of lawyers across the United States and overseas on a range of matters, acts as outside general counsel to a variety of companies and trade associations, and has represented licensees and business partners of major sports leagues.

John received his Juris Doctor at Pace University School of Law and graduated cum laude with an Environmental Law Degree. He was a member of the Pace Law Review, National Moot Court Team and Pace Law Rugby team.

From 2011 to 2017, John served as a State Representative in the Connecticut General Assembly, and served as Ranking Member on the Environment Commitee. He stepped down before his fourth term to run for U.S. Congress as a major party candidate in 2016. He remains active in state and national governance and policy.

Privately, John is a youth football coach, former semi-professional football player, sailor and outdoorsman. He is the founder and president of Giants in the Community, Inc., which supports youth sports and related community organizations. He also served on the Board of Best Buddies and the Connecticut League of Conservative Voters. He has three sons.
